2026 PBEEE Canada Merit Scholarship for International Students

Summary:

The PBEEE Canada Merit Scholarship programs are directed at International students (with study visa or work permit) who wish to undertake or continue their studies or research activities in Québec.


In support of the Québec government’s science policy, the Merit Scholarship for Foreign Students program has the following objectives:


Support the internationalization of research activities in Québec’s higher education institutions;

Attract top foreign researchers and students and promote international recognition of Québec universities and College Centres for the Transfer of Technologies (CCTT);

Create cultural links and pave the way for the setting up of joint scientific research projects.


Eligibilities:

To be considered for the 2026 PBEEE Scholarship in Canada, you must:

  • Must be an international student

  • Must not be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada;

  • Must not have made an application for permanent residence under Canadian immigration law;

  • Must be recommended by a professor (thesis supervisor) or supervisor.

  • Must be applying to commence a graduate degree at any of the participating universities.


Benefits:

Master: $20,000/year (max. 2 years)

  • Doctorate: $25,000/year (max. 3 years)

  • Short-term research project or professional development: $3,000/month (max. 4 months).

  • The annual value of a Postdoctoral scholarship (V2, 2B, 2C, 2I) is $35,000. The maximum amount that can be awarded is 3 instalments (one year) totalling $35,000.
