Summary:
The Programmable Integrated Sensors and Microsystems (PRISM) Lab in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta is seeking outstanding PhD/Master’s students as of July 2025.
The goal of the project is to develop high-resolution microfabrication processes for microsystems, including flexible sensors and liquid metal microfluidic systems.
Dr. Pegah Pezeshkpour. Director of the PRISM Lab, leads interdisciplinary research at the interface of engineering and materials science to develop scalable and reconfigurable microsystems using advanced microfabrication processes and novel materials for applications in health, energy monitoring devices, and assistive technologies.
Lab members have access to state-of-the-art fabrication, testing, and characterization facilities in a collaborative research environment.
Benefits:
The University of Alberta Graduate Scholarship is a fully funded award covering the full cost of tuition and providing an additional annual stipend for successful candidates.
The scholarship also covers the costs of research and conference travel.
Eligibilities:
To be considered for the University of Alberta Scholarship, you must;
A completed Bachelor’s/Master’s of Science (or Engineering) degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
Keen interest in, and/or experience (research, industrial) in the fabrication of microsystems.
Proven ability to work independently and as a team player, with strong problem-solving skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills
