Summary
The University of Malta is now accepting applications for a fully-funded M.Sc. by Research position in collaboration with the Department of Geosciences, Faculty of Science.
This unique opportunity of the University of Malta Scholarship is tied to the exciting research project titled “Investigating Malta’s Recent Seismic Activity and Development of Novel Tools for Earthquake Analysis”, led by Dr Matthew Agius.
The student will get training in using specialised software such as SeisComP and ISOLA to locate earthquakes.
Benefits:
The scholarship has a duration of one year.
The selected candidate will be required to start their studies on a full-time basis in September 2025 and will be receiving a stipend of €500 per month for one year.
The tuition fee for the first year of studies for local candidates (up to €400) will be covered from the project.
Eligibilities
To be considered for the University of Malta Scholarship, you must:
satisfy the Master of Science in Geosciences requirements as per UM regulations.
be in possession of a BSc in one of the following areas:
Geosciences, Physics, Earth Systems, Maths, Statistics are preferred.
Degrees in other science subjects, earth-related studies, or IT will be considered.
Preference will be given to candidates providing evidence of proficiency in programming.
Students who are currently in their final year of the undergraduate programme will also be considered, subject to successful completion of their programme of studies in line with the requirements outlined here.
