Summary
This competition is open only to West African nationals, with preference given to those affiliated with West African colleges, universities, or research institutions.
Benefits:
The WARC Travel Grant provides travel costs up to $1,500 and a stipend of $1,500. Travel grant funds may be used to:
attend and present papers at academic conferences relevant to the applicant’s field of research;
visit libraries or archives that contain resources necessary to the applicant’s current academic work;
engage in collaborative work with colleagues at another institution;
travel to a research site.
Eligibility:
Preference is given to doctoral candidates pursuing a doctoral degree at a university or a research institute in Africa, Latin America or Asia. Doctoral candidates already pursuing their Ph.D. at the University of Bonn are not eligible for funding. Funding recipients should finish their doctorates at their home university (to avoid brain drain).
The quality of the research project to be pursued as part of the doctoral studies during the candidate’s stay in Bonn
The intensity of the existing cooperation or its potential for future growth between the applicant and the home institution of the doctoral candidate.
The integration of the doctoral candidate into an existing research environment in Bonn (e.g. integration into a BIGS work group, etc.; use of a workplace, etc.)
A practical supervision blueprint under the cooperation agreement.
