This program is for students with a track record of academic excellence and impact in the lives of others who intend to pursue a graduate program in Canada. It is hosted in these Canadian universities: University of British Columbia, University of Toronto, and McGill University.

2. Mitacs Accelerate Fellowship
This is a program available to full-time graduate students enrolled in any discipline within participating universities and partner organisations in Canada, to partake in internships and access longer-term funding.
Type of degree funded: Master’s, PhD
Amount: Up to $40,000 for 2 years (Master’s); up to $80,000 for 4 years (PhD)

3. Margaret McNamara Education Grant (MMEG)
This grant is available to only women from developing countries. The candidate must be at least 25 years at the time of application deadline, and is required to provide proof of enrolment in the institution.
Type of degree funded: Master’s, PhD
Amount: Up to $15,000 (USD); awarded once to successful recipients.

4. Ontario Graduate Scholarship
This is a merit-based scholarship awarded to eligible graduate students undertaking their studies in a university within the Ontario province.
Type of degree funded: Master’s, PhD
Amount: $5,000 per term for a single academic year.

5. Ontario Trillium Scholarship
This is another merit-based scholarship awarded by the province of Ontario to exceptional doctorate degree students.

Amount: $40,000 per year, renewable for up to 4 years.

6. Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship (Vanier CGS)
The Vanier CGS prioritises academic excellence, research potential and leadership ability as its main selection criteria.
Scholars are selected from 3 broad areas of research: health, natural sciences and/or engineering, and social sciences and humanities, after being nominated by their institution.
Type of degree funded: PhD
Amount: $50,000 per year, for 3 years.

7. Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholarship Program
This program is open to candidates in the Social Sciences and Humanities already enrolled in their institutions, who show intellectual capacity and leadership engagement. There is no age limit.
Applicants are to show the link between their research and the 4 main themes of the Foundation, namely Human Rights and Dignity, Responsible Citizenship, Canada and the World, and People in their Natural Environment. Applications are made directly by candidates to the Foundation via the online portal.
Type of degree funded: PhD
Amount: Up to $40,000 to cover tuition and living expenses and $20,000 in allowances to cover travel, networking and research per year for 3 years.

8. Canadian Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarship
This is a project-based scholarship where scholars are recruited by participating universities. Prospective candidates are encouraged to contact the international office of the Canadian institution they are interested in working with.

9. Jeanne Suavé Foundation Public Leadership Program
For this program, applicants are required to have full-time work experience for 3 years, be within the ages of 25 and 30, and possess strong public leadership skills.
Participants can enrol formally in a university in their second (residency) and third (field) years of tenure in the Leadership program.
Provides: Monthly allowance, accommodation, and inbound visa and travel costs for the first year.

10. Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship
This fellowship is available to outstanding postdoctoral candidates in Canada.
Amount: $70,000 per year (taxable) for 2 years (non-renewable).
