11. Finance Law
LSE has an LLM programme in Banking Law and Financial Regulation. LSE boasts of one of the strongest teams of regulation and financial practice lawyers in the UK and the location of the school allows close contact with major regulators and financial institutions. NYU has one of the best LLMs in Taxation. King’s College offers a well-known specialist LLM in International Business Law. The LLM however, explores complex legal issues arising out of international banking, trade and business, both from a litigation and arbitration perspective. Oxford University offers a unique Master’s degree in Law and Finance. However, the degree awarded upon completion of the programme is not an LLM but an MSC. The programme is jointly taught by the Law Faculty and the Said Business School. 12. Trade Law
LSE has a specialized LLM in Competition, Innovation and Trade Law. This LLM is wider in scope than the conventional trade law LLMs and provides a global perspective on the issues. Instead of focusing on a single jurisdiction, students would typically be exposed to discussions which revolve around the principles underlying the law and its practical implementation. The University of Sussex offers a specialized LLM in International Trade Law. One unique feature of this LLM is that candidates are allowed to broaden their horizons by taking diverse elective courses alongside their core modules. For more information, visit the website.

13. Criminology/ Criminal Law
LSE provides one of the intellectually richest environments for the postgraduate study of criminology and criminal justice in Europe. Students will be exposed to Criminal Law theory, evidence, procedure and sentencing, theory of criminal law, mental health law, policing and enforcement, and theories of justice. The University of Edinburgh has an LLM programme in Criminal Law and Criminal Justice. This LLM covers the core areas and also delves into contemporary debates in today’s society, such as the legality of assisted dying, the detention and punishment of individuals under recent terrorism legislation, and the treatment and punishment of sex offenders. The Master’s programme aims to help students understand the key concepts and theories underpinning criminal law and criminal justice and how they operate in practice. 14. Insurance Law
QMUL was the first UK University to offer a specialist LLM in Insurance Law. The insurance industry is an enormous industry in the UK, second only to the banking industry in terms of the number of employees and revenue generated. University of Southampton offers an LLM in Insurance Law which provides students with the opportunity to specialize in the complex and ever-evolving area and learn from academics at the cutting edge of its development. The University of Dundee offers an LLM in International Energy Law and Policy. It is run by the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral law and Policy at the University of Dundee and provides the best in advanced education in its field, preparing its graduates to meet the challenges posed by the evolving global economy. The University of Aberdeen offers two specialized LLMs in Energy Law, namely the LLM in Energy Law with Dissertation, and the LLM in Energy Law with Professional Skills.
